What you need to know about lip fillers

Today’s fillers contain Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a liquid that is found naturally in the body. The most amazing thing about this substance is that it is able to hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water. This is why we can find it in several cosmetic products. However, there is a difference: HA when applied in cream, it cannot penetrate the deeper layers of the skin and thus, cannot show visible results. On the contrary, through lip filler injections do. HA being naturally produced in the human body -always less as we age actually-, is being immediately accepted in our system when injected into the skin and it breaks down slowly within months.

Are lip filler injections painful?

The good news is, they aren’t. There can be a level of discomfort; however, if the practitioner administering the filler is good, it must not be more painful than getting your eyebrows threaded. There is namely a numbing cream applied and also, most of the times, painkiller lidocaine is mixed in with the HA in the syringe, so you are safe.
