Key takeaway

You leave with skin that feels smoother and softer.

A cool jet of oxygen and sterile saline does the work, and the handpiece never touches your skin.

Before your visit

It suits

  • Have dry or dull skin
  • Notice mild congestion on the surface
  • Want fresher skin before an event
  • Have sensitive skin that reacts to abrasive exfoliation

An active infection or an open wound on your face means waiting, so please tell us when you book.

To prepare

  1. Avoid sun and tanning beforehand, and do not come with sunburnt or irritated skin.
  2. Tell your practitioner about prescription skincare and any isotretinoin, now or recently.
  3. Mention cold sores, allergies, a tendency to scar and any recent facial procedure.
  4. Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids before and after, as your practitioner advises.
  5. Mention any medication you take and any active skin condition.

Saline and oxygen lift dry cells

The Oxygen Jet Peel device speeds microscopic droplets through a handpiece, and as they land they clear away dry cells and surface debris, leaving moisture behind. It works on the surface only.

Your practitioner sets the strength for your skin's sensitivity and may add skincare approved for the device. There are no needles, suction or abrasive crystals.

On the day

Your practitioner cleanses your skin first, then moves the handpiece over each area, with extra passes over dry or congested patches as your skin allows. It feels cool and slightly pressurised, and needs no anaesthetic. Finishing products and sunscreen go on last.

Until it settles

  1. Let flaking skin shed on its own, with no scrubbing or picking.
  2. No saunas, steam rooms, swimming or hard exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
  3. Keep out of direct sun and wear sunscreen every day.
  4. Contact us if anything unexpected develops afterwards.
  5. For about six hours, do not touch, rub or scratch your face.
  6. Skip makeup for a while, and keep to mild cleanser and moisturiser for several days.

The effect is temporary, and how long it lasts depends on your skin, your environment, your skincare and whether the jet was part of a fuller facial. Regular sessions keep it going.

Now and then some redness, sensitivity or dryness follows and passes. Results vary, and your practitioner will tell you how often to come back.
