Alkalize Your Body!
My body has always been toned, as I’ve been doing a lot of sport since my childhood, and on the top of that I’ve always tried to maintain a healthy diet. However, although my body was firm and slim, I started to notice more and more the uneven skin around my thighs, bottom and stomach. I heard from a friend that a cellulite massage treatment was a great solution to get rid of the little lumps, which were bothering me. After some investigation I managed to find a good therapist.
When I went for my first session we started with a long chat, where she explained that if I did the course of treatment the cellulite would disappear, but the results would only be long lasting if I made some changes to my diet to make sure that my body was alkalized. She gave me a chart that listed the food that would make my body acidic, and another list containing the food that alkalize it. She explained that the key was a healthy balance.
Alkalizing the body has much more to it than to only help avoiding cellulite. I found it really interesting so I started to read about the topic more to have a better clue. I found out that I’ll be more likely to have clearer skin, better digestion, more energy, and a nose that runs less often when my body is in an alkaline state. Also an acidic environment promotes the growth of bad bacteria, yeast and fungi. The imbalance of your body’s good bacteria makes you more prone to getting infections. You will be less likely to suffer from the common cold when your body is alkaline.
A major benefit of having an alkaline body state is that you might reduce your risk for developing cancer. When your body is too acidic, oxygen levels are lowered and cellular metabolism stops. This can lead to the growth of cancer cells. Maintaining an alkaline state helps encourage healthy cell turnover, which is key in the prevention of cancer. And the list goes on…
Alkalizing your body also builds and strengthens bone, thereby reducing the incidence of osteoporosis. It helps to avoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel disorders. When your body is in an alkaline state, you are less likely to suffer from chronic diseases.
The foods and beverages you consume each day have a direct impact on the acid and alkaline balance in your body. This balance is measured by determining your pH value, which tells you if your body’s fluids and tissues are more acidic or alkaline. On a pH scale of negative 4.5, which is very acidic, to positive 9.5, which is highly alkaline, your body is considered healthy and alkaline if you have a pH level of 7.0 or above. It is easily measured using a pH dip stick purchased at your local pharmacy, and with your first morning urine you can find out what your level of alkaline-acid is.
After getting to know all of this, I started to pay much more attention to how to create my meals. It didn’t take too much. I was just looking through the chats that were given to me daily, and made sure to have less items that made my body more acidic. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t start to cut out all types of food that were acidic, I just made sure that I counter balanced them with enough others that alkalized it. I started to eat more root vegetables like radishes, carrot and turnips. Cruciferous such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts, spinach, cucumber, garlic, lemon and apples. There would be many more to list, but I love these ones anyway, so it wasn’t a huge effort to make sure I included them in my diet more often and in a larger quantities.
After following the principles above for years I have to say, I’ feeling much better in my skin. I’m looking and feeling better. I’m very grateful to the anti -cellulite therapist. She drew my attention to a really important issue.
