Customised Skin Peels
Your skin feels smoother and looks brighter once the damaged cells on its surface have shed. An exfoliating acid loosens them, and fresher skin comes through.

Each acid does a different job
Salicylic Acid dissolves in oil and works inside congested pores, so it suits skin prone to acne. Glycolic Acid works on dullness, rough texture and fine lines. Jessner, a combination peel that includes salicylic acid, exfoliates more strongly and is used for sun damage and uneven tone.
Your practitioner picks the acid and its strength for your skin type and how sensitive it is. There is no single formula.

Your visit
The peel goes onto clean skin, usually without numbing, and your practitioner watches closely until it is neutralised or removed. Expect a warm tingle or a mild sting. Our Salicylic and Glycolic peels finish with a collagen mask, then aloe vera and hyaluronic acid, then moisturiser and sunscreen.
- Avoid sun and tanning beforehand, and do not come with sunburnt or irritated skin.
- Tell your practitioner about prescription skincare and any isotretinoin, now or recently.
- Mention cold sores, allergies, a tendency to scar and any recent facial procedure.
- Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids before and after, as your practitioner advises.
- Let flaking skin shed on its own, with no scrubbing or picking.
- No saunas, steam rooms, swimming or hard exercise for 24 to 48 hours.
- Keep out of direct sun and wear sunscreen every day.
- Contact us if anything unexpected develops afterwards.
- Mention any acne medication or other medicines, and any recent facial waxing.
- After a stronger peel, skip makeup until your practitioner says.
Is it right for you?
- Have dull skin or a rough texture
- Have oily skin and blocked pores
- Get blackheads or some types of acne
- Want more even pigmentation
Sunburn, an infection, an open wound or irritated skin means waiting, and your practitioner will say how long.
Results
While your skin settles it may feel tight and sensitive and look red or dry, and that passes as the more even surface underneath shows. Judge it at about two weeks.
Results vary with the acid, its strength and your skin. Daily sunscreen and good skincare help the result last between maintenance treatments.
Cocoon is a licensed medical clinic with eight doctors, including a dermatologist, and you meet yours before anything is booked.
Questions people ask
It may not. Some people only get dryness or fine flaking, and others shed visibly, depending on the strength of the peel.
Superficial peels often come as a series, especially for congestion, and your practitioner spaces them as your skin responds. The American Academy of Dermatology notes several may be needed.
Freshly peeled skin needs protecting from UV, because pigmentation can change, especially in darker skin tones.
All three are superficial peels and work on the surface. Deeper acne scars or established pigmentation may need a different treatment, or a combination.
