If you take diabetes medicine or have kidney disease or stones, G6PD deficiency, iron-storage conditions or high calcium, tell us before you book.
Afterwards
Some people feel more hydrated the same day. Changes in your skin or general wellbeing can take longer. Results vary, and how often to return is agreed at your consultation.
Discomfort, bleeding, vein irritation, dizziness or nausea can follow, and less often infection, allergy or a fluid-related complication.
Before and after your visit
- Tell us what you take, including supplements, and about any kidney or heart condition.
- Say if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Say if you are having cancer treatment or take blood thinners.
- Eat something and drink water before you come.
- Expect a small dressing on your arm, and a little tenderness or bruising that passes.
- Drink water afterwards and keep the rest of the day easy.
- Contact us if anything unexpected develops afterwards.
- List the vitamins you take, as A, D and E can build up.
- High-dose vitamin C can affect some blood-glucose readings and cancer treatments.
Alpha-lipoic acid sets it apart
Alpha-lipoic acid is the name here you may not know, an antioxidant that works beside glutathione and vitamins C and E to protect cells against oxidative stress.
Vitamin C plays its part in normal collagen formation and immune function, A in skin, D in muscle and bone, and the B vitamins in energy and nerves. Saline is the hydrating base.
