Teosyal RHA® 4

Filler that moves the way you do.

Your face is never still. It smiles, talks, frowns and laughs all day, so the filler in it should be able to keep up. Your doctor uses this hyaluronic acid gel to bring back volume in the cheeks and give the jaw and chin a clearer line, without stiffness.

A clinician’s pink-gloved hand gently supports a patient’s head as she rests on the treatment bed.

How it works: volume that moves with you

Teoxane, the maker, cross-links the gel but keeps its long hyaluronic acid chains intact. The result is a filler that flexes with each expression and holds the volume your doctor placed. RHA stands for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid.

RHA® 4 is made for the wide areas of the face that move most. There it brings back projection, shapes a contour or softens a deep fold, all without that stiff, filled look. The gel contains lidocaine to ease the injections, and numbing cream can be added if you would like it.

Where it can be used

Cheeks, Cheekbones, Midface, Lower-face contours, Chin, Jawline

What to expect

  1. Straight away

You see the change as soon as you sit up.

  2. Day 1 to 7

Swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising can last several days.

  3. Day 7 to 14

Swelling makes the area look fuller until the gel settles. Your doctor reviews the result then.

  4. Longer term

Teoxane advises it lasts 15 to 18 months, depending on the area, the amount and your metabolism.

Results vary, and your doctor will tell you what to expect for your own face.

Your visit, step by step

  1. Before

    • Tell your doctor what you take, including blood thinners and aspirin
    • Mention any filler already in the area, and any botulinum toxin or filler in the last four months
    • Skip alcohol the day before, as it can increase bruising
    • Book at least 15 days after dental work, and away from vaccinations, peels and laser
    • Arrive with clean skin and little makeup on the area
  2. The day

Your doctor watches your face at rest, then as you talk and smile, and plans where the gel should sit before marking the skin. The gel goes in by fine needle or cannula and may be shaped afterwards. You can expect pressure or brief discomfort.

  3. Your first two weeks

    First 6 hours
No touching, rubbing or pressure. After that, wash with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water
    If it swells
A cold compress for 15 to 20 minutes at a time. Arnica cream can ease bruising
    First 72 hours
No flights, alcohol or hard exercise
    First 7 days
No exfoliants, harsh cleansers, retinoids, AHAs or BHAs. A light moisturiser is fine
    Day 7 to 14
Mild firmness or a small lump is normal while the gel settles. Massage it only if your doctor asks
    For two weeks
Avoid prolonged sun, extreme cold, saunas, steam rooms and dental work
  4. Aftercare

    • No makeup for 12 hours
    • Do not rub, press or massage the treated area for the rest of the day
    • Delay facials and facial massage until your doctor says
    • Wear SPF 40 or higher every day
    • Contact us for signs of infection, such as pus or warmth
    • Contact us at once if pain, swelling or redness grows, or the skin changes colour
