Aftercare & Expectations – ND:YAG Laser for Capillaries / Broken Blood Vessels

The ND:YAG laser uses focused light energy to target and collapse unwanted capillaries without damaging surrounding skin. Your body will then naturally clear these vessels over time.

Because this is a vascular treatment, some visible changes are normal during the healing process.

Immediately After Treatment (Day 0-1)

What You May Notice:

Redness and warmth in the treated area (similar to a mild sunburn).
Swelling or puffiness, especially around delicate facial areas.
Blood vessels may appear darker or more visible at first — this means they’ve been successfully targeted.
Mild stinging or tingling sensation.
Blisters might form

What To Do:

Apply cold compresses (10–15 mins) several times during the first 24 hours to reduce swelling.
Gently cleanse with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water — pat dry, do not rub.

Use only post‑treatment soothing creams recommended by Cocoon Medical Spa, such as bioplacenton gel.

Avoid:

Touching, scratching, or rubbing the treated skin.
Makeup for the first 24 hours (or until redness settles).
Direct sun exposure — always wear SPF 50+ if you must go outside.
Hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga, or strenuous workouts for 48 hours up to a week to minimize heat exposure to prevent irritation and promote proper healing.

After Treatment Days 2–3

What You May Notice:

Redness and swelling start to fade.
Bruising or purplish discolouration may appear where vessels were treated — this is normal.
Mild dryness or skin sensitivity.

What To Do:

Continue gentle cleansing and moisturizing.
Apply SPF 50+ daily, and reapply if outdoors.
Avoid harsh skincare products (scrubs, acids, retinol).
If bruising occurs, arnica gel or thrombophob gel application is recommended.

After Treatment Days 4–7

What You May Notice:

Bruising fading; redness continues to improve.
Treated vessels may gradually fade or disappear.
Mild scabbing or crusting may form — these will flake off naturally.

What To Do:

Do not pick or scratch at the skin.
Maintain gentle skincare and sun protection.
Keep skin hydrated to support healing.

After Treatment Days 2–4 Weeks

What You May Notice:

Improvement in broken capillaries.
More even skin tone and reduced redness.
Full results may take 4–6 weeks as your body clears the vessels.

Treatment Frequency:

Most clients require multiple sessions spaced 4 weeks apart for best results. Annual touch‑ups may be recommended if you are prone to broken capillaries.

Do’s & Don’ts Summary

Do:

Keep skin clean and moisturized.
Wear SPF 50+ daily.
Use cold compresses to reduce swelling.

Don’t:

Pick, scratch, or exfoliate the treated area.
Expose skin to strong sunlight for 2 weeks.
Use saunas, steam rooms, or do intense exercise for 48 hours – 1 week.
Use harsh or active skincare until cleared by your therapist for 1-2 weeks.

Reassurance:

Redness, swelling, darkening of treated vessels, and mild bruising are completely normal. These are positive signs that your skin is responding to treatment. Over the next few weeks, broken capillaries will fade, and skin clarity will improve.
