Key takeaway
Does your skin feel dry, or look dull and tired? A course of fine injections of hyaluronic acid and peptides can leave it softer and more supple.
Is it right for you?
- Have dry or dehydrated skin
- Have early or visible fine lines
- Want a more even skin texture
- Notice your skin is less elastic
Pregnancy and breastfeeding mean waiting, as does an active skin infection or an autoimmune condition, and your doctor will say if anything else rules it out.
It hydrates without filling
Hyaluronic acid draws water into the skin and holds it there. The peptides, short chains of amino acids, act as signals in the processes that maintain your skin's structure and appearance. Some formulas add amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
Nothing in the formula adds significant volume or changes the shape of your face, so you will not see the instant contour a dermal filler gives. The change is gradual.

Any redness, tenderness, swelling or bruising settles in one to three days. Some people notice the hydration within several days.
Texture, elasticity and fine lines take several weeks. The result builds across three sessions about four weeks apart, and stays visible for around six months after the course. Results vary, and your doctor says what to expect for your skin.
Before and after your visit

Before
- Tell your doctor what you take, including blood thinners, and about previous skin treatments.
- Leave a few days before an important event, as bumps or bruising may still show.
- Avoid alcohol the day before, as it can increase bruising.
- Arrive with clean skin and no makeup.
- Mention your medical history, allergies, supplements and any earlier injectables.
- Keep taking prescribed medicine unless the doctor who prescribed it says to stop.
- Pause retinoids and other strong actives for about five days, or as your doctor advises.
The day
Your skin is cleansed and numbing cream goes on first, to make the small injections more comfortable. Your doctor then gives them point by point. Tiny raised bumps may show as you leave, and begin to settle within several hours.
The first two weeks
- Day 1
- Mild redness, tenderness or swelling, and skin that feels dry or tight. No makeup for at least 12 hours.
- First 24 hours
- No alcohol or intense workouts.
- First 48 hours
- No direct sun or tanning beds.
- Days 2 to 3
- Swelling often peaks, and small bumps, dryness or light peeling can show. Mild, hydrating products only.
- Days 4 to 5
- Most redness and sensitivity settle, and the skin feels smoother. A bruise may still show.
- Five days
- No harsh products or exfoliants.
- Days 6 to 7
- Most swelling and flaking have gone. Moisturiser, serums and a physical sunscreen can return.
- Two weeks
- Redness, bruising and swelling have usually cleared, and your full routine can come back gradually.
No AHAs, BHAs or retinoids for at least 7 days, and SPF every morning, even indoors.
Then
- Do not rub or massage the treated areas for 24 hours.
- No makeup for the first 12 hours.
- No strenuous exercise, alcohol, hot showers, saunas or steam rooms for 24 to 48 hours.
- Mild skincare only for a few days, with no scrubs or exfoliating acids.
- Keep out of direct sun and wear sunscreen every day.
- Contact us if anything unexpected develops afterwards.
- For two to three days, no saunas, steam rooms or hot yoga.
