What a skin booster is
A skin booster treats dry or tired skin and leaves the shape of your face as it is. Your doctor places hyaluronic acid in the skin through many small injections, and it draws in water and holds it.
Hydration usually comes first, and texture, elasticity and fine lines improve over the weeks after. Volume needs a filler.
Skin boosters, side by side
Four different ways to better skin. Your doctor will help you choose.
- Juvéderm® SKINVIVE™ Hydration in a single visit. Usually one 1 ml session, then a review, with no course to commit to. Lasts up to six months. Best for: dull, tired cheek skin, if you prefer one session to three.
- Salmon DNA Skin Booster Skin repair, with extra hydration. Works with your skin’s own repair process. Three sessions, two to three weeks apart, and the longest-lasting course: six to nine months. Best for: tired-looking skin with uneven texture or less elasticity.
- Peptide Skin Booster A gradual, natural change. A gentle course of three sessions, about four weeks apart, lasting about six months. Best for: dry or dehydrated skin you’d like softer and more supple.
- Revok50 Skin Booster The one that goes beyond the face. Three 2 ml sessions, about a month apart. Lasts several months after the course. Best for: dry or tired skin on the face, and softer skin on the neck, décolletage or backs of the hands.
On a two-week trip
SKINVIVE™ is usually one session and a review, so tell us your flight date when you book.
The other three are courses, so a fortnight has room for the first session, and time to see the softer, better-hydrated skin that tends to follow within several days. The full result takes all three. A course is a good fit if you live in Bali or come back every few weeks.
Bumps or bruising can show for a few days, so book early in the trip, well ahead of any dinner you want photographed.

Aftercare
Most of what follows a booster settles within the first week. Each booster's own page adds its rules, and your doctor gives you yours.
- Day 1
Mild redness, tenderness or swelling, and skin that feels dry or tight. No makeup for at least 12 hours.
- Days 2 to 3
Swelling often peaks, and small bumps, dryness or light peeling can show. Mild, hydrating products only.
- Days 4 to 5
Most redness and sensitivity settle, and the skin feels smoother. A bruise may still show.
- Days 6 to 7
Most swelling and flaking have gone. Moisturiser, serums and a physical sunscreen can return.
- Two weeks
Redness, bruising and swelling have usually cleared, and your full routine can come back gradually.
No AHAs, BHAs or retinoids for at least 7 days, and SPF every morning, even indoors.
