360° Full Body Red Light Therapy

Treatment time
About 30 minutes
Available at
Legian, Canggu

Your visit

You lie back in warm red light, body and face together, with nothing to do but rest.

It starts with a short conversation, as your therapist asks about your health and listens to what you hope for. Then protective eyewear goes on.

The equipment gives off some warmth, but the light itself should never feel hot or painful.

Aftercare

One session may leave you feeling relaxed.

Research suggests some red-light devices improve aspects of how skin looks and how you recover after exercise. It will not heal an injury, though, or treat a skin or hormonal condition.

Any visible change in your skin takes a regular series of sessions, and nobody can promise one. Results vary from person to person, which is why the consultation matters.

Now and then, brief warmth, redness, dryness, itching or sensitivity can follow.

Good to know

Before your visit

  • Please mention any active infection, wound or unexplained skin lesion.
  • Let us know if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy.
  • Tell us about any recent intensive or light-based skin treatment you have had.
  • Say if bright light tends to bring on migraines or discomfort for you.

Red light, head to toe

You lie on the Cocoon Red Light Infrared Mat, with one light panel over your body and a second over your face. There is a nano mist too, a mist of tiny droplets.

The therapy’s proper name is photobiomodulation, which means using light to influence how cells behave.

Light-sensitive structures in your cells absorb this low-intensity light. Researchers believe it influences the mitochondria, the small parts of each cell that make its energy, and how cells signal.

How you respond depends on the device, its wavelengths and strength, the length of your session and how much of you is lit.
