Aftercare & Expectations – RF Microneedling & Dermapen

RF Microneedling & Dermapen treatments are designed to stimulate collagen, improve skin texture, and promote rejuvenation.

These treatments work deeply within the skin, so it is completely normal to experience certain sensations and visible effects as your skin heals.

Immediately After Treatment (Day 0-1)

What You May Experience:

Skin will appear red or flushed, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn.
You may feel warmth, tightness, or slight swelling.
Minor pinpoint bleeding or redness in treated areas can occur.
The skin may be sensitive to touch.

What To Do:

Keep skin clean and avoid touching unnecessarily.
Apply only the recommended post‑treatment serum or soothing cream provided by Cocoon.
Avoid makeup for the first 24 hours.
Use cool compresses if discomfort is significant.

After Treatment Days 1–3

You May Notice:

Redness and swelling should begin to subside.
Some clients experience dryness, rough texture, or a “sandpaper” feel.
Mild tenderness is normal.
Skin may feel tight and itchy as healing begins.

What to Do:

Continue using soothing and hydrating products recommended by your therapist.
Avoid all active skincare products (retinol, vitamin C, exfoliating acids).
Use broad‑spectrum SPF 50+ daily if you need to go outdoors.
Drink plenty of water to support healing.

After Treatment Days 3–5

You May Notice:

Mild flaking or peeling may begin as your skin renews.
Skin tone will start to even out.
Pinkness may still be visible, especially on sensitive skin types.

What to Do:

Let peeling happen naturally — do not pick or scratch.
Maintain hydration and gentle cleansing.
Continue avoiding actives and exfoliation.

After Treatment Days 5–7

You May Notice:

Skin should feel smoother and more supple.
Pinkness usually fades; however, a slight blush may remain in sensitive clients.
Collagen stimulation continues under the surface.

What to Do:

Gradually reintroduce gentle active ingredients only if advised by your therapist.
Continue using SPF daily to protect new skin.

After Treatment Days 2–4 Weeks

Results become more noticeable — finer pores, smoother texture, healthier glow.
Collagen production will continue to improve skin quality over the coming months.

Do’s & Don’ts Summary

Do:

Follow your therapist’s post‑treatment skincare routine exactly.
Stay hydrated and eat a nutrient‑rich diet to support skin repair.
Apply high‑quality sun protection daily.
Sleep on a clean pillowcase to reduce bacteria exposure.

Don’t:

No makeup for 24 hours post‑treatment.
Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga for at least 7 days.
Avoid swimming pools, oceans, or hot tubs for 48 hours.
Do not use exfoliants, scrubs, retinoids, or acids until cleared by your therapist.
Avoid intense workouts for 24 hours to minimize sweating and irritation.

Reassurance:

Everything you experience in the days after treatment — from redness and swelling to mild peeling — is a normal, temporary part of your skin’s natural healing process.

These signs show that your skin is actively repairing and rejuvenating.
