Botox For Chin Dimpling

One of the great things about modern cosmetic treatment research is its willingness to embrace new techniques, as well as finding new ways to use old ones. By now Botox is a well-known name and, for most people, needs little explaining. Simply put, it’s a protein extract that is most commonly injected into the skin to reduce wrinkles. It has multiple other medical applications, but that’s not what I’m interested in. For me, one of the most noticeable signs of aging is in my chin. When I look in the mirror, my eyes are immediately drawn to my chin and the uneven texture caused by dimpling.

When I was finally fed up with the image in the mirror, I decided to do something about it. I went to a cosmetic consultant, and he suggested genioplasty, chin surgery, using chin implants to change the shape of the chin and fill in the hollow points. I seriously considered it for several weeks. But the prospect of the pain and recovery downtime, not working and earning, made it an unrealistic option for me.

I went back to the consultant and explained my reasoning for not going ahead with the treatment and asked if there were other, less invasive, options available. He immediately suggested Botox. I had thought that Botox was only suitable for crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles.

He explained that the excessive movement of the mentalist muscle not only causes unsightly dimpling, but promotes shadowing of the chin, which accentuates the jowls and “puppet” marionette lines. And that Botox is a great way to relax lines and dimples in the chin caused by hyperactive muscles, resulting in a smoother, fuller chin area. Botox relaxation in the chin can also help acne scars that might be accentuated by the muscle action in the chin.

With treatments taking only minutes, relatively low cost and no downtime, I was willing to give it a go. He explained that Botox was only temporary and that I would need to visit a few times a year if I wanted to maintain the effects.

I must say it was a great decision for me. It made a huge difference to the appearance of my chin. It looks fuller, smoother and less aged. It has given me a much-needed confidence boost and not drained my savings. It’s been just over four months since my first session, and I’m just starting to see the effects of the Botox wearing off, so I’ve got my second session booked in next week. I can’t wait!
