Immediately After Treatment (Day 0)
What You May Experience:
- Mild redness, swelling, or tiny bumps at the injection sites — usually fading within minutes to hours.
- Tenderness in treated areas.
- A temporary feeling of heaviness in the forehead or brow.
Why You May Feel Heavy:
Botox works by relaxing targeted muscles. In the forehead, as the lifting muscles relax, you may temporarily feel heaviness or a “tight band” sensation. This is normal and usually settles within a few days as your facial muscles adjust.
What To Do:
- Stay upright for 4–6 hours after injections.
- Gently move facial muscles (smile, frown, squint) during the first few hours.
- Use a cold compress with very light pressure to ease swelling
Avoid:
- Pressure on the face for at least 48 hours — includes:
- Pressure massage on the areas of injection for at least 7-14days
- Tight helmets or hats
- Goggles or tight-fitting glasses
- Scuba masks
- Lying face-down in a massage cradle
- Sleeping face-down
- Sauna, steam room, hot yoga, or hot baths for 24–48 hours
- Cold plunge or ice baths for 24 hours
- Diving or swimming in chlorinated or salt water for 24 hours
- Strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours
- Alcohol and blood-thinning medication for 24 hours
After Treatment Days 1–3
You May Notice:
- Swelling and redness improving
- Possible mild bruising (normal; fades within 7–14 days)
- Forehead heaviness may persist, but usually feels lighter each day
- Some clients feel a mild headache — this is a known and temporary side effect
- Tightness
Why You May Have a Headache:
As Botox begins to relax your facial muscles, your body adjusts to new muscle activity patterns. This can cause mild tension headaches for some clients, which typically go away within 24–48 hours.
After Treatment Days 4–7
You May Notice:
- Bruising fading
- Wrinkles beginning to soften and muscle movements reduced
- Early results becoming visible, but not yet final
- Any heaviness usually improves significantly
After Treatment Days 8–14
When Will I See Results?
Botox Results vary:
- Most clients notice improvement in 3–5 days
- Results peak at 7–10 days
- Final results will be complete after 14 days
Why Results Vary:
- Muscle strength (stronger muscles may take longer to relax)
- Individual metabolism
- Treatment dose and injection points

Frequently Asked Questions (Client Style)
Q: Why does my forehead feel heavy?
A: Botox relaxes the lifting muscles in your forehead, so they work less. This can feel heavy for a few days until you adjust — it’s normal and temporary.
Q: When will I see the results?
A: Most people start seeing changes in 3–5 days, with full results at 10–14 days.
Q: Why do I have a headache after Botox?
A: Some clients get mild headaches as the muscles adjust to their new relaxed state. This usually lasts 24–48 hours and can be eased with mild pain relief (paracetamol, not aspirin or ibuprofen unless advised by your doctor).
Q: Can I drink alcohol before or after Botox?
A: Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before and after treatment to reduce the risk of bruising.
Q: Can I take antibiotics before or after Botox?
A: In most cases, yes — but always tell your injector about any medications you’re taking. Some antibiotics can increase sensitivity or swelling. If you’re currently on a course of antibiotics, it’s best to inform us before booking or having the procedure.
Q: Can I exercise after Botox?
A: Avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours — this helps prevent the Botox from moving and reduces swelling/bruising or even risk for infection.
Q: Can I wear makeup after Botox?
A: Wait at least 12–24 hours before applying makeup, and apply it gently to reduce the risk of infection.
Q: Can I get a facial or massage after Botox?
A: Avoid facials, deep tissue massage, or any treatment that puts pressure on your face for at least 7 days.
Q: How long does Botox last?
A: Typically 3–6 months, depending on your metabolism and lifestyle or dosage received.
