Why You’ll Love It
Benefits

- Creates a smoother, refreshed appearance
- Preserves natural expression when carefully placed
- Can treat several facial areas in one appointment
- Takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes
- Requires minimal downtime
The Treatment
How It Works
Botox® is a prescription medicine containing onabotulinumtoxinA. It is injected in very small amounts into selected facial muscles.
Every time you smile, frown, squint or raise your eyebrows, the underlying muscles contract and fold the skin. Over time, these repeated movements can make expression lines more noticeable.
Botox® temporarily blocks signals between the nerves and targeted muscles. This reduces the strength of selected muscle contractions, allowing the overlying skin to appear smoother.
The goal is not to remove every facial movement. Careful placement and personalised dosing help soften unwanted lines while maintaining your natural expression.

Your Appointment
What to Expect
Your appointment begins with a consultation and facial assessment. Your doctor will ask about your health, medications, previous aesthetic treatments and desired result.
You will be asked to make expressions such as frowning, smiling and raising your eyebrows. This allows the doctor to assess how your muscles move and where the lines develop.
The skin is cleansed before small amounts of Botox® are injected into carefully selected points. Treatment usually takes around 10 to 15 minutes. Most patients describe the injections as brief pinches.
Small bumps or redness may be visible immediately afterwards, but these usually settle quickly. Your doctor will provide personalised aftercare instructions before you leave.
Preparing for Your Visit
Before Your Treatment
Tell your doctor about all medical conditions, allergies, medications and supplements. You should also disclose any botulinum toxin treatment received within the previous four months, including the exact product and treatment area.
Mention blood-thinning medication, aspirin-like products, injected antibiotics, muscle relaxants, sleeping medication and allergy or cold medicines. Do not stop prescribed medication unless the prescribing doctor advises you to do so.
Avoid alcohol before your appointment where possible, as it may increase the chance of bruising. Arrive with clean skin and minimal makeup around the treatment areas.
What You May Notice
Your Results
You may begin to notice changes within one to two days. The treated muscles gradually become less active, allowing expression lines to appear softer.
Results continue developing over the following weeks. The official BOTOX® Cosmetic information advises that full results may be assessed at around 30 days and may last for up to four months.
Results vary according to the treatment area, dosage, muscle strength, metabolism and previous treatments. Botox® is temporary, and movement gradually returns as its effect wears off.

Good to Know
Important Considerations
Botox® should be administered by a qualified medical practitioner following an assessment of your facial anatomy and muscle movement.
Temporary redness, tenderness, bruising or a mild headache may occur after treatment. The treatment may not be suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you have an infection near the injection area or certain neuromuscular conditions.
Tell your doctor about your medical history, medication and any previous botulinum toxin treatments before your appointment.
Helpful Information
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about your treatment and what to expect.
Can Botox remove every type of wrinkle?
Botox® works best on dynamic lines caused by facial movement. Lines caused by volume loss, skin laxity or sun damage may require another treatment or a combined approach.
When will I see the result?
You may begin to notice a change within one to two days. The effect develops gradually, and the final result should not be assessed too early.
How long does Botox for wrinkles last?
Results may last up to four months. Duration varies depending on the treated area, dose, muscle activity and individual response.
Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Yes. A personalised treatment can soften selected lines without removing all movement. Your doctor will discuss how much movement you would like to maintain.
Can Botox be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Depending on your concerns, Botox® may be combined with dermal fillers, skin boosters, laser treatments or other personalised skin treatments. The correct timing will be recommended by your doctor.
Is Botox the same as dermal filler?
No. Botox® temporarily reduces selected muscle activity. Dermal fillers add volume or structural support beneath the skin. They work differently and may be used separately or together.
