Chosen with immunity in mind
The base is saline, which hydrates you, and the 5,000 mg of vitamin C plays a part in normal immune function and in making collagen. It is an antioxidant too.
Vitamin A matters for immunity, and so do D and E. The B vitamins work on energy, nerves and new cells.
In the drip
- Saline
- Vitamin C, 5,000 mg
- Vitamin A (retinol)
- Vitamins D and E
- B1, B6 and B12
- Folic acid, biotin, niacin
Your visit
Over refreshments, we ask about your health, medicines and allergies.
A small cannula usually sits in your arm, and the bag empties slowly.
We keep an eye on you throughout, then take the cannula out.
- Tell us what you take, including supplements, and about any kidney or heart condition.
- Say if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Say if you are having cancer treatment or take blood thinners.
- Eat something and drink water before you come.
- Expect a small dressing on your arm, and a little tenderness or bruising that passes.
- Drink water afterwards and keep the rest of the day easy.
- Contact us if anything unexpected develops afterwards.
- Vitamins A, D and E can build up, and excess D can raise calcium dangerously.
- Retinol is vitamin A, and in pregnancy an excess can harm the baby.
- Mention isotretinoin or another retinoid, and glucose testing, which vitamin C can skew.
Is it right for you?
- Want a broad mix of vitamins
- Want hydration as well
- Have time to sit for a while
Tell us before you book about kidney disease or stones, G6PD deficiency, iron-storage conditions or cancer treatment, as high-dose vitamin C needs care.
Afterwards
Better hydration can come the same day or within 24 hours, though some notice little change. Results vary, and we agree the gap between drips with you.
Irritation or bleeding at the vein can follow, as can dizziness or nausea. Infection, allergy or a fluid problem is rarer.
